M.A.T.
The Master's Degree in Theology aims to develop scientific research capacity in the theological field, as well as to train university professors of theology and theological advisors for international and national organizations, both civil and ecclesiastical.
Requirements for obtaining the Master's degree
- Have a minimum of 12 months of attendance at PUC-RIO.
- Obtain a minimum of 24 credits in graduate-level courses.
- Prove sufficient knowledge to read texts in one of the following languages: French, English, Italian or German.
- For students who choose the Biblical Theology Concentration Area, proof of knowledge of Advanced Biblical Greek and Advanced Biblical Hebrew is required.
- Submit, defend and pass a Master's Dissertation (TEO 3000).
- Within twelve months the student must have completed the twenty-four credits and have passed the Master's Complex Examination.
- During the semester following these twelve months he/she must have chosen his/her supervisor and submitted the Dissertation Project.
- By the 23rd month, the student must hand in his Dissertation at the Department's secretariat for examination by an examining board.
- During the period of the twenty-fourth month, at the latest, the Dissertation must be defended in public.
- The final text of the Dissertation must be submitted to the Department with the corrections made within 180 days after the defense.
Admission and Enrollment
- Have completed a Bachelor's Degree in Theology recognized by MEC, with a final average equal to or higher than 8.0 (eight) and a course load equal to or higher than 1,600 class hours.
- Fulfill the other requirements indicated in the announcement of the selection process that is in effect at the time of admission and be considered approved and qualified for enrollment.
