POST-DOCTORATE
 

The post-doctorate internship in PUC-Rio's PPG consists of academic study characterized by research activity, to be performed by holders of a Doctoral degree obtained in a Stricto Sensu PPG (cf. Ordinance - 54/20119, Art. 1).

It will be developed under the supervision of a professor of the main staff, a member of the PPG faculty, and in line with their line of research (§1).

The candidate must submit his project to the PPG Commission and the duration will be a minimum of two months and a maximum of two years.

Provides for post-doctoral internship in a Graduate Program at PUC-Rio.

RESOLVES:

Art.1 The postdoctoral internship in a Postgraduate Program at PUC-Rio consists of academic study characterized by research activity, to be carried out by holders of the title of Doctor, obtained in a Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program.

§1 - The internship in a Graduate Program will be developed under the supervision of a professor on the main staff, a member of the Graduate Program's faculty, and in harmony with its line of research.

The remaining rules for participation in the Post-Doctorate internship can be found in the text of Ordinance - 54/2009, presented below:

§2 - The internship in a Graduate Program can only be supervised by a professor accredited to work in the Graduate Program, and who has already completed at least one (01) Doctorate orientation.

§3 - The candidate for a Graduate Program internship must submit to the Graduate Program Committee a research project in one of the Program's areas of concentration.

§4 - The candidate whose internship project in a Graduate Program has been approved must register with PUC-Rio's Directorate of Admission and Records (DAR) as a Post-Doctoral Intern.

Art. 2 - The candidate for a post-doctoral internship must apply to the Office of Admission and Registration (DAR) as a Post-Doctoral Intern.

§1 - The candidate may submit his application at any time.

§2º - The candidate must attach the following documents to the application:

1) Letter of request addressed to the Program Coordinator;
2) Copy of ID and Individual Taxpayer ID or passport;
3) Copy of Doctorate Diploma, recognized or legally revalidated, when applicable;
4) Updated Curriculum Vitae, preferably extracted from the Lates Platform;
5) Letter of acceptance from the professor indicated to supervise the candidate;
6) A research project and work plan containing a timetable, a list of expected products, and, if applicable, a source of funds, with all pages initialed by the professor appointed to supervise the candidate.

§3 - After receiving the candidate's documents, the DAR should forward the application to the Department to which the Graduate Program belongs for judgment of the request.

Art. 3 - The post-doctorate internship in a Graduate Program will last for a minimum of 2 (two) months and a maximum of 2 (two) years.

§1 - The internship period may be renewed.

§2 - The duration of each internship period will be determined by the project proposed by the candidate, with the approval of the scholarship granting agency, when applicable, with the approval of the relevant Graduate Program Committee, and the professor appointed to supervise the post-doctoral intern.

Art. 4 - Participation in a post-doctoral internship in a Postgraduate Program does not create an employment or functional relationship between the post-doctoral intern and PUC-Rio.

§1 - During the development of the project, the post-doctoral intern may use the services of PUC-Rio, for which reason he or she must enjoy the status of Post-Doctoral Intern of the University.

§2 - Any bibliographical or artistic production resulting from the internship in a Postgraduate Program must mention the condition of Post-Doctoral Intern in a PUC-Rio Postgraduate Program.

Art. 5 - At the end of the internship in a Postgraduate Program, ratification will take place within 30 (thirty) days after submission of the report, as provided for in §1° of this article, and the Directorate of Admission and Records (DAR) will issue a Certificate of Postdoctoral Internship in the respective concentration area, which must be signed by the supervising professor and the Program Coordinator.

§1 - At the end of the internship, and for the purposes of analysis for the issue of the Post-Doctoral Internship Certificate, the post-doctoral intern must submit to the supervising professor a report of the activities carried out, based on the project submitted to the Graduate Program Committee when he/she joined the program.

§2 - The supervising professor must issue an opinion on the post-doctoral intern's activity report within thirty (30) days, to be forwarded to the Program Coordination Office for the purpose of issuing a Post-Doctoral Internship Certificate by the Admission and Registration Department (DAR).

Art. 6 - Benefits resulting from external scholarships granted to the post-doctoral intern during his post-doctoral internship at PUC-Rio, including remaining consumables, will be incorporated into the assets of the PUC-Rio Graduate Program at the end of the internship period.

Art. 7 - This Ordinance goes into effect on the date of its publication, any provisions to the contrary being revoked.
